iPad OS 16 and earlier does not support the usage of Center Cam or any other third party USB cameras.

iPad OS 17 beta has been tested by the Center Cam tech team using an iPad with a USB C port, using the Center Cam USB A to USB C adapter, and has been found to be able to recognize Center Cam using FaceTime. As of Late July 2023, FaceTime is the only app that has been tested to work with Center Cam. We look forward to more apps becoming available to use this feature on iPad OS 17 as they become available.

If your iPad uses the lighting connector, there are connectors on the market for lighting to USB A but Center Cam has not tested these to see if these might function with iPad OS 17 beta.
